I'm Susie, the founder of SUSU Co.. I grew up in south Georgia surrounded by shared traditions, and the art of storytelling. Handcrafted goods weren’t just things we made—they were expressions of love, history, and connection. I remember working with my grandmother in her garden and  spending an entire weekend with my mother canning and freezing our summer harvest so we could enjoy it in the cooler months to come.  It was a tradition that I cherished—a way of preserving not just food, but memories, care, and a sense of home.

When I came to Italy, I saw all the pieces of my story come together. In 2023, I spent four months in a small apartment in Oltrarno, a district long cherished for its artisanal workshops and artists. It was there, surrounded by centuries-old craftsmanship, that I found a deep connection between the South and Italy—both places where family, generosity, and artistry are woven into daily life.

The first piece I called my own was a small vase by Paola Staccioli. I selected it to bring a sense of warmth and familiarity to my little rental, a simple act that made a place far from home feel like mine. That moment—of finding comfort and meaning in something beautifully made—became the spark for SUSU Co.

SUSU Co. was born from this intertwining of worlds. With the warmth of Southern hospitality and the mastery of Florentine artisans, we curate a selection of heirloom-quality jewelry and pottery meant to be cherished. These pieces carry stories—yours, mine, and the hands that craft them—bridging past and present, home and away.
